Who we are
Stichting Break Buddy (Chamber of Commerce 97571008) from Hilversum matches people waiting for gender care with a volunteer buddy. Our service is free and nonprofit.
What a buddy is and is not
A buddy is a volunteer, not a care provider. Break Buddy is not care, not therapy and not a crisis service. Need help right now? Call 113 (or 0800 0113), and 112 in immediate danger.
How matching works
We do our utmost to find a fitting match, by hand and with care. We cannot guarantee a match or a timeline. If it does not click, we look again.
The ground rules between buddies
We treat each other with respect, keep what is shared confidential, and money never changes hands between participants. Buddies sign a code of conduct and provide a certificate of conduct (VOG) before starting.
Age
You can sign up from age 16. Younger? Contact us together with a parent or carer and we will see what is possible.
Your own choices
A buddy thinks along, but decisions about your care, your path and your life always remain yours. Break Buddy gives no medical advice.
Liability
Break Buddy is a volunteer organisation and the service is free. Our liability is therefore limited to what the law mandatorily prescribes. This does not apply in case of intent or deliberate recklessness by the foundation.
Stopping is always allowed
You can stop at any moment, without reason and without consequences. We may end a trajectory if safety or the ground rules are at stake. In that case we help think about an alternative.
Complaints
Unhappy about something? Email us via the contact page. A human reads it and looks for a solution together with you.
Changes
These agreements can change. The current version is always on this page, with its date. For major changes we notify active participants.
Applicable law
Dutch law applies to these agreements.
